Yuvraj Singh steps into Animation world

Miami based Motion Pixel Corporation (MPC) and Cornerstone Entertainment of India have finalized the signing of one of India's most prolific cricket players to star in a new animated movie titled Captain India.
 The story entails Yuvraj Singh growing up in Mumbai and encountering a magical cricket stick which he realizes has special powers and uses it to help fight crime and also becoming an Indian Cricket Star to help India win the cricket World Cup.The movie is currently in preproduction and is scheduled to be released in early 2012. "We felt Yuvraj was the best fit for the project which we think will be a mega hit with all the Bollywood and Cricket fans not only in India but throughout the World," commented MPC Chairman, Manny Bains."Cornerstone has always made best efforts to promote brand Yuvraj as uniquely as possible. This project is one such opportunity for Yuvi to reach out to the millions of children across the countries who aspire to be like him one day. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands


Hot on the heels of the trailer for the Prince of Persia film, Ubisoft has announced that the next Prince of Persia game will be available in May 2010.Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will abandon the new storyline from last year’s series reboot and go back to the world of Sands of Time, the games on which the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer movie is based.This shouldn’t come as much of a shock to constant readers of Game|Life, who already know that series creator Jordan Mechner said earlier this month that Ubisoft’s Montreal studio was working on “something that I’m excited about” and that he expected an announcement soon.Ubisoft said that a video of the game would premiere on Spike TV’s Video Game Awards show on December 12.

Reliance Big Entertainment to acquire 50% shareholding in Codemasters

Codemasters, the leading British developer and publisher of world-class video games, announced that Reliance Big Entertainment Ltd. (RBEL), a part of India's Reliance ADA group, has agreed to acquire a 50 per cent shareholding in the company, alongside existing investor, Balderton Capital, the leading European venture capital firm that first invested in Codemasters in 2005.RBEL's gaming division, Zapak Digital Entertainment Ltd. will oversee the Codemasters investment. Zapak, gaming company in India, with interests in online casual games, massively multiplayer online games (MMOG) publishing, India's largest chain of gaming cafes and physical distribution of gaming software. Zapak also controls Jump Games, an award winning international mobile game development and publishing company with global distribution across Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. Rohit Sharma, CEO of Zapak, said: "We are excited to partner with Codemasters and believe it's very strong technology, development and distribution presence will complement our global gaming portfolio. Superstar Rajnikanth to share screen with his 3D clone in ‘Sultan‘

Sultan the Warrior’ by Chennai based Ocher Studios has a new twist to it. Superstar Rajinikanth appears in more than one role in ‘Sultan the Warrior’ and one of them would be a non-animated character, with his typical mannerisms and style. The live action character is said to feature in total for about 20 minutes across the entire stretch of the film. The film is to be released in a number of different languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and English to name a few. In the world arena it is set to be released in Italian as Rajinikanth’s movies are loved in Italy, it will also be released in a few other European languages and Japanese. Speaking to animationxpress.com Ocher Studios Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Producer of Sultan Karthik G said “One of the main reasons to have a live action character of Rajinikanth is that the character requires it so. Having a live action character along with the 3D animated characters is also a great challenge for us to match them and bring out the final output.

Lucasfilm Animation developing yet another Star Wars series

Variety reports that Lucas film Animation is developing a new animated Star Wars TV comedy series. Yes, you read correctly… a Star Wars comedy series. But really, are you surprised? If there is one thing George Lucas loves, it’s milking the Star Wars franchise for every golden drop.Jennifer Hill, winner of a Daytime Emmy and Gemini Award, whose credits include Nickelodeon’s The Backyardigans, will produce the show, while Todd Grimes, who’s credits include Nickelodeon’s Back at the Barnyard will direct.Writers will include Brendan Hay, who has written for the show Republicans love to hate, The Daily Show. Also, Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, creators and executive producers of Robot Chicken, will have creative involvement in the series.No start date or network have been announced.
